Our Story
About Reef Mesh Core
A shop shaped by the daily ride
Reef Mesh Core opened in Shibuya after its founders spent years repairing commuter bikes outside a small station kiosk. The first workshop had one repair stand and a clear rule: recommend the bicycle that fits the rider's route, not the most expensive model.
That rule still guides our stock, service desk, and fittings fifteen years later.
Built around Tokyo conditions
Rain, narrow apartment storage, crowded crossings, and stop-start traffic ask more of a bicycle than a showroom test can reveal. We select frames with practical clearance, dependable braking, and parts that can be serviced locally.
Our team tests equipment on the routes customers actually ride through Shibuya, Ebisu, and Yoyogi.
Advice before accessories
A rack is useful only when it clears your heels. A lock is useful only when it fits the places you park. We ask about storage, distance, weather, and carrying needs before suggesting a single accessory.
That consultation keeps purchases focused and prevents the drawer full of gear that never gets used.
A workshop that stays accountable
Every assembled bicycle receives a torque check, brake inspection, and short test ride before collection. Service notes record the work completed, the parts fitted, and the next sensible maintenance interval.
Customers can return for a first-year tune-up and speak directly with the people who worked on their bike.
Progress measured in useful miles
Since 2011, we have fitted more than 1,200 bicycles, supported office fleets, and kept a walk-in repair counter open for bikes purchased elsewhere. Our milestone is not a larger showroom; it is more riders choosing a bicycle for ordinary trips.
We continue to add practical services only when they make city riding simpler.
The standard we bring to every handover
We explain what a component does, what it costs, and how it should be maintained. We will say when a simpler bicycle is the better fit, and we will never make a safety claim we cannot support.
